Food Pantry & Drop-In Food Program
Our food pantry is available during our normal weekday hours and clients can access a food box every 90 days or more often as needed on a case by case basis. Our food pantry provides staple foods to help families be able to stretch meals for a couple of days. We also have a drop-in food program which is a freezer in our Social Programs office that can be accessed daily getting up to 3 items. The items are donated from Pizza Hut and Starbucks.
If you are faced with a disconnection, some limited financial assistance from The Salvation Army may be available. Before we can assist with utilities, clients need to contact Energy Share or LIEAP at 447-1625 and provide verification at the time of appointment that contact was made and are unable to help. The Salvation Army may help with paying water bills too.
Many times, we can help families and individuals pay their utility bills in order to get through emergency crisis. In-person requests and telephone inquiries are received throughout the year during normal weekday hours. We also take referrals from other partnering agencies as resources allow. Clients will receive a comprehensive assessment and other forms of support, such as budget counseling, referrals, and case management as needed, as the Salvation Army tries to take a holistic approach to reduce the likelihood of future crisis. Social programs staff can also work directly with your energy provider in order to assist the household and to help people avoid a shut off. For information, contact Bob or Val at The Salvation Army in Helena (406) 442-8244.

Transitional Living Program
The Salvation Army is focused on preventing homelessness in communities we serve. Housing challenges are not predictable or limited to a certain type of person, and it could happen to anyone. Some causes may be unemployment, medical emergency or any crisis. The Salvation Army works every day to assist individuals, families with children and those who are at risk of losing their permanent housing or who have currently become homeless or by providing for their basic needs and helping achieve long-term stability through case management and other services provided through the program.

Emergency Disaster Services (EDS)
While every disaster is unique and creates its own special needs, the core of The Salvation Army's disaster program consists of several basic services. And while these services address many of the typical needs of a disaster survivor, Salvation Army disaster relief is also flexible. Our services are adapted to the specific needs of individuals and communities and scalable according to the magnitude of the disaster. When tragedy strikes in your community, remember that The Salvation Army is on the scene. Volunteers are needed for behind-the-scenes and frontline work. Donations enable Salvation Army personnel to assist hundreds of thousands of disaster survivors. Credit card donations may be made by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY or online by clicking HERE.
